dc.description.abstractUrinary tract infections are the most common infection in the adult population. Lower urinary tract symptoms and evidence of bacterial urine (by general urinary substance test and / or urinary culture) are used to diagnose UTI. Diagnosis of a urinary tract infection (UTI) is not always easy. Symptoms can be unclear, and patient-related factors can interfere with the diagnostic process during urine cultures. In these situations, it can be difficult to distinguish between urinary tract infections and asymptomatic bacteriuria (ABU), and the doctor should decide whether to start antibiotic treatment immediately. The purpose of this study is to investigate biomarkers that may help detect urinary tract infections. Procalcitonin, interleukin-6, neutrophil gelatinase-related lipocalin, chemokines, lactoferrin, and bone morphogenetic protein-2 appear to be promising for the diagnosis of UTI.3en_US
