It is the most common cancer in young adults aged 20-30 and is the leading cause of cancer death for women aged 25-30. Melanoma is significantly more prevalent among white populations than in blacks and Asians. According to World Health Organization statistics, 132,000 cases of melanoma are diagnosed each year and thousands of people die from melanoma annually.
