Orientation Program for New Students Continues at the Faculty of Pharmacy
This morning, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized a workshop for new students (for the 2019/2020 academic year) that focused on providing adequate explanations on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method. Students implemented the PBL session within the activities of the orientation program.
It is worth mentioning that since establishment, the Libyan International Medical University (LIMU) has adopted modern and advanced learning methods, including Problem-Based Learning method. Problem Based Learning is a self-learning strategy of which students learn to research on their own. The PBL method is an advanced educational system that puts the student in front of a specific problem that they discuss on the first session known as (Brain Storming Session). During the session, students analyze the ideas presented for discussion and construct the educational objectives under the supervision of a Tutor.
Through this method, the student has the opportunity to search and explore the educational objectives. The student can learn about the depth and accuracy of the information by consulting with the tutor the next day in what is known as (Tutor Availability). On the third day, students are evaluated on the discussion of the details of the educational objectives with their group members in a session known as (Debriefing Session).
