Down Syndrome, also known as Trisomy 21, is a genetic disorder caused by the presence of all or part of a third copy of chromosome 21. Though the likelihood of carrying a baby with Down syndrome can be estimated by screening during pregnancy, the person will not experience any symptoms of carrying a child with Down syndrome.
