The Impact of Pharmaceutical Care Intervention on Health-Related Quality of Life in Hemodialysis Patients in different centers in Benghazi.

Introduction: Hemodialysis patients suffer from poor health-related quality of life (HRQoL) which results in the higher risk of hospitalization and mortality. This research will investigate the importance of pharmaceutical care (PC) for hemodialysis patients to optimize drug therapy, minimize drug related problems and thereby improving their HRQoL. Objective: This research was conducted to evaluate the impact of PC interventions on HRQoL of hemodialysis patients. Method: Randomized control study was carried out after getting ethical approval. HRQoL was assessed by using SF-36 instrument for all 80 patients. After that, 40 patients were received the normal care along with brief medication review and counseling by pharmacists for 2 months. Then HRQoL was assessed again for 40 patients who received the pharmaceutical care. The data was analyzed by Excel sheet. Results and Conclusion: the results shows that the quality of life for HD patients was poor for both physical and emotional aspects. Also, the results shows that the quality of life after pharmaceutical care is better than before pharmaceutical care. Keywords: Hemodialysis patients, HRQoL, Pharmaceutical care.
